Bell Fuels Premium D-2® Diesel Fuel

Keeping your equipment moving through all types of weather

Minimum 45 Cetane

With a typical Cetane number of 47-48, Premium D-2® gives you faster cold weather starts, while providing for more complete combustion.

The Engine Manufacturers Association has recommended that higher Cetane fuels be run in today's low emission engines.

No Blending Required

Premium D-2® Diesel Fuel does not require #1 oil blending. The savings are outlined here. D2 blending.jpg (5400 bytes)

Maximum Power, Improved Fuel Efficiency, Less Smoke

Low emission engines operate with higher injector pressure. The smallest amount of varnish or carbon deposit can result in a poor spray pattern and incomplete combustion. The net effect is reduced fuel efficiency (3% - 5%), more smoke, and loss of power. Premium D-2® contains a detergent which exceeds the performance requirements of the Cummins L-10 Superior rating for injector cleanliness.

Long Term Storage Stability

If you operate emergency generators, long term fuel storage is a reality. Premium D-2® provides fuel stability in excess of nine months. This is three times longer than the typical untreated fuels.

Extended Injector, Pump and Fuel System Component Life

When 60% - 90% of the sulphur was removed from on-road diesel fuel with the introduction of low sulphur fuel, we lost the lubricating properties that sulphur had previously provided. Premium D-2® utilizes an additive which gives you lubricity protection of over 3100g. on the Scuffing Load B.O.C.L.E. Test.

We guarantee a minimum reduction in CFPP of 20º F. No other fuel in the market makes that claim!

Bell Fuels, Inc., has tested CFPP (Cold Filter Plugging Point) on over 400 samples of "Premium" Winter fuels taken directly from storage tanks in the field. The results confirm our assertion that Premium D-2® offers you, the customer, unsurpassed cold weather operability. D2 CFPP.jpg (6273 bytes)

Premium D-2 in conjunction with good maintenance practices will eliminate fuel filter icing

  1. A certain amount of water is inherent in diesel fuel (typically 200-250 PPM)
  2. The vast majority of diesel equipment having cold weather problems experience filter icing - which will shut down the unit.
  3. In extreme cold weather, you must:
bulletdrain saddle tanks weekly
bulletdrain water / fuel separators daily
bulletmonitor storage tank bottoms for the presence of water (if over 1" you need to have the water pumped out)

Bell's Premium D-2® Diesel Fuel contains a special moisture de-icer agent to prevent typical amounts of water in diesel (0.0100% vol.) from freezing down to a temperature of -45ºF or more (depending on the actual amount of water in the diesel fuel and your fuel system).

This added protection insures that engines and equipment utilizing Bell's Premium D-2® Diesel Fuel will operate properly and consistently during extremely cold temperatures.

Good-Bye to Bugs!

With Bell Fuels' Premium D-2® Biocide Program you won't have to worry about the growth of microorganisms in your storage tanks.

Premium D-2® Diesel Fuel is Proprietary

Premium D-2® is a finished diesel fuel - it is not an additive that can be purchased separately, then added to your fuel.

It's our product, and we proudly put our name on it!

Bell Fuels, Inc. also offers:
bulletSemi-annual storage tank audits
bulletConsistent Fuel Source - Bell Fuels, Inc. maintains a large inventory of diesel fuel locally. This fuel is stored at major oil terminals which have consistently demonstrated fuels with good cold weather properties.
bulletCFPP and Cetane Testing. Bell Fuels, Inc. routinely samples competitive diesel fuels and tests for CFPP and/or Cetane. If you are curious about the quality of fuel you are purchasing we can give you quantitative results.
bulletMetered additive tickets for all transport loads delivered. This is your assurance that you are receiving Premium D-2® diesel fuel.
bulletOpacity Testing - We will work with you to identify any excessive smokers you may have in your fleet.
