Corporate Profile

Innovation and boldness
coupled with solid financial reasoning have long been the hallmarks of Bell
Fuels, Inc., a company whose origins date to 1898 Chicago, when the streets were unpaved
and horses still provided the horsepower. Robert W. Troch Sr. orchestrated the move from
coal to fuel oil in 1946, sensing the oncoming decline and eventual demise of the use of
coal for home and commercial heating. Robert W. Troch jr., current CEO and
Chairman of the Board of
Bell Fuels, Inc., joined the company in 1958 after service in the U. S. Navy.

Constantly striving to
provide the best products and services for customers has led to a number of firsts for the
Chicago-based independent, including: retail "super stations" (virtually unknown
and risky in 1980, now the mainstay of every major retail operator); "Super K-1
Kerosene" where Bell maintains strict quality control from refinery through delivery
to a regional network of distributors; the availability of quality assured Avgas; and Jet
fuel at numerous airport locations throughout the country. Bell continues to supply its
Premium D-2 Diesel to its commercial customers along with
distribution to home heating oil accounts.

Change is inevitable, and
Bob Troch is dedicated to anticipating new products, services and market conditions
all combining to assure a reliable supply of quality products and services for Bells
customers. In 1997, Bell acquired the Fuelman Fleet Fueling Brand for the Chicago Area,
plus Southern Wisconsin in 1999. Bell has constructed Super Fleet Fuelers to accommodate
such customers and is in progress of adding more. Bells new Rail Services division
offers one stop locomotive fueling and servicing to major rail carriers in the Chicago
area. In both instances, Bob Troch saw a need and Bells customers welcomed
the new services. In an industry that has seen the virtual elimination of the midsize
independent, the past 100 years of innovation and vision has positioned Bell Fuels to
continue to create, adapt and serve current and future customers well into the 21st
century. |
